About Us

What is Carpe Diem Volleyball?

Carpe Diem Volleyball Club is a competitive USAV volleyball club in Columbia, South Carolina.

We have teams from ages 10 and under to 16 and under. Carpe Diem is very big in Lexington, SC with 6 teams ages 14 and under practicing in Lexington.

This youth league is an introduction to volleyball for young girls. It is our hope that these "youth leaguers" will fall in love with the game of volleyball and

become great volleyball players in the future.

Carpe Diem Youth Volleyball League

What is the Carpe Diem Youth League?

Carpe Diem Youth League is a play league to get the younger kids starting to play volleyball at an earlier age and learn the fundamentals of the sport. Specifically it is for any girl that is still in elementary school (GRADES 1-6). Last year (Spring of 2007) we had 140 girls in all age groups. It was a tremendous success. We are looking for a great turn out in 2008 also. Keep checking this website and looking for a brochure to be delivered to your elementary school in February or March.

Here are some highlights of the league-

- We will use the Volley Lite ball and we will play on the youth height net.
- League practice will start up in the month of April each year.
- Practice will be once a week for 8 weeks lasting 1 and 1/2 hours in duration.
- Practice will be in the evening so that they can play other school sports.
- Coaches will be high school coaches, middle school coaches, or players from the local colleges teaching fundamentals and having fun.
- Practices will be held in the Lexington area.
- Starting in the 6th week there will be 3 play-dates of games where each team will play against the other teams in their age group. Games will last 1 hour.
- The cost for the league is only $75 so it is affordable for everyone and a great way to get your daughter involved in volleyball. This includes all coaching, games, and a youth league t-shirt.
- Teams will be made up of age groups by grade (provided that we have enough people to do so). This means that 5th and 6th graders will be put on a team together and will play other 5th and 6th graders.
3rd and 4th together etc.
- Each player will receive equal playing time. This league is not for competition only (although that is fun). It is for fun and fundamental development and to get kids started in volleyball. They will have plenty of time for competition later or if you think they are ready for competition then you can have them tryout for one of our CLUB teams.
